The Power of Intercessory Prayer

Prayer is not a retreat from the world. It is how the people of God stand in the gap, carry the nations before the throne, and make room for heaven to move.

When we intercede, we are not simply asking — we are standing in agreement with what heaven has already declared, and releasing it into the earth. Intercession is partnership, not petition alone.

This is the call of the Unshakable Kingdom: a people who pray with authority, who carry the burden of nations, and who do not grow weary in the place of prayer even when the answer is delayed.

"I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the gap before me for the land." — Ezekiel 22:30

Practically, intercession looks less dramatic than it sounds. It is showing up. It is holding a name, a city, a nation before God on an ordinary Tuesday when nothing about the circumstances has changed yet. It is choosing to keep speaking life over a situation that looks dead.

It is also costly in the best sense — it asks something of us. To intercede for a person is to carry a measure of their burden. To intercede for a nation is to grieve what grieves God about it, and to hope what He hopes for it.

Will you stand in the gap? Not because the outcome depends only on you, but because God has chosen, in His wisdom, to move through the prayers of His people. Your intercession matters more than you know.
